US Vogue March 2009: Michelle Obama by Annie Leibovitz

11 February 2009 2 Comments

Michelle Obama follows in the footsteps of her husband Barack Obama. While he appears on GQ and Esquire’s March covers, the First Lady graces the cover of Vogue’s March issue.

America’s new style icon who posed in a magenta silk dress by inaugural gown designer Jason Wu was profiled by Annie Leibovitz.

Chatting with Andre Leon Talley, Michelle tells the mag that her current focus is settling in Washington, D.C., trying to find a church and helping her daughters Malia and Sasha get adjusted.

“I’m going to try to take them to school every morning — as much as I can,” she says. “But there’s also a measure of independence. And obviously there will be times I won’t be able to drop them off at all. I like to be a presence in my kids’ school. I want to know the teacher; I want to know the other parents.”
