TOP 5 PARIS SS09 FASHION SHOWS

By Editor • Nov 13th, 2008 • Category: Fashion View

Nobody does fashion week like Paris! The most important and influential shows in the world take place in Paris. The epitome of chic, Parisian fashion houses influence the rest of the fashion world. Here are the top 5 Paris SS09 fashion shows.

Balenciaga

Once again Nicolas Ghesquiere has found the perfect juxtaposition of futuristic fabric and wearable shapes. As always Balenciaga plays with the usage of fabrics to create something new. This idea of futuristic couture doesn’t give Balenciaga the proper definition it deserves, but this is part of the fun as Ghesquire is still defining it! This collection is not for those with mainstream tastes, it will take time for the everyday person to grasp. The collection was exquisite!!!

Givenchy

Bondage, thigh high boots, leather, with a dash of demure blouses and bows were on the menu at Givenchy. Ricardo Tisci continues to give us the new way of dressing for the rock and roll girl. The collection is a continuation on last season’s rock vibe sans catholic crosses, and now infused with a western influence. All in all the clothes are edgy and fun.

Wunderkind

Wunderkind is wonderfully quirky and eccentric. This season Wolfgang Joop gave us more of what we have come to know and love at Wunderkind. Bright quirky prints were paired with drab military influenced pieces which gave the bright patterns that much more “pop” against a neutral background. This mish mash of wild colours, shapes and patterns somehow works and take each piece apart and you are left with a beautiful and wearable garment.

Balmain

Spring/Summer Balmain was every rock and roll girls dream. Correction, every glamorous rock and roll girls dream. Gorgeous drummer boy jackets with a couture shoulder paired with ripped acid wash jeans and glam studded heels sauntered down the runway followed quickly by fabulous bondage dresses blinged out just the right amount. Perfect outfits for both the concert and the after party, non?!

Maison Martin Margiela

This year marked the 20th anniversary for Maison Martin Margiela. True to usual form the designer was scarce but the clothes were fantastic. The collection was structurally beautiful and pushed all the usual boundaries.
