Peplum is back
By Editor • Aug 11th, 2008 • Category: Trend TimeIt was obvious at the Fall/Winter fashion shows that peplum was trendy once more, as well as a ladylike attitude towards fall styles. The echo of the Victorian era, when ladies wore peplum jackets with full long skirts, was very apparent at the Prada, Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga, YSL and Chanel shows.
But it wasn’t about corsets and crinolines. What was in evidence was a more modern look, with smooth fabrics and soft architectural silhouettes, culminating in fitted jackets, which were paired down with pencil skirts and slim pants, accentuating the waist. There were even dresses at Balenciaga, that greatly enhanced the curve of the hips.
