Polka dots are a hymn to innocence, femininity, fun and optimism. They were beloved by Rita Hayworth and Marilyn Monroe, Cyndi Lauper and Madonna, Minnie Mouse, and the heroine played by Julia Roberts in “Pretty Woman”. And Andy Warhol of Pop Art fame, used tiny polka dots in his paintings during the 1960s.

Each season, designers give birth to new iconic prints and add a glamorous overhaul to the classic dots. From oversized to tiny, polka dots are found, not only in black-and-white, but also in burning red, sunny yellow, and turquoise. This season, some great polka dot attire appeared at the Charles Nolan, Marc Jacobs, Monique Lhuillier, Betsey Johnson, Givenchy and Valentino runway shows.
