Christian Dior Fall 2008 Couture
By Editor • Jul 1st, 2008 • Category: Fashion ViewIt was all about sophisticated sexiness at the Christian Dior Fall 2008 Couture.
The first part of collection showcased a fetishistic edge: structured black crocodile jackets and sheer skirts with silk boy-shorts, corset-laced bodices accessorized with black leather cloche hats, wide corset-belts in studded black patent, and sadomasochistic platforms in metals chains.
Then, Galliano softened up the mood with ruffles, tulle, pleats, chiffon, and sequins, which were shown on pistachio, lime, cream and lilac fairy-tale gowns, circle and pencil skirts, silk prom-style and tulle dance dresses - all hand-beaded with crystals and silver.
“The whole idea came from having a cup of tea two years ago in New York with Irving Penn. We chatted a long time and he told me of the role of Lisa Fonssagrives in his art and work. When I realized her importance, as a figure, a beauty and a sculptor in her own right, I went from there,” said a trim Galliano backstage.
