Briana: College Fashion Par Excellence
By Editor • Jul 21st, 2008 • Category: Fashion View
Briana of the College Fashion style site is extremely good at what she does, and that is college fashion, style, and glamour, an area of concern to millions of stylish women the world over, who want to look their best, be aware of the latest trends, adopt a celebrity muse, and optimize their inner and outer beauty in an affordable way
College Fashion is written with a verve, a ken, and a karma, and seems to know exactly what its audience wants, all nicely augmented by intriguing images, helpful advice, and a common sense approach that makes the reader want to return back again and again.
We thank Briana for taking time out from her busy schedule to participate in the interview.
Fashion Time: So, where did you ever get the idea to write about College Fashion?
Briana: I got the idea to write CF from my everyday life. I’m a college girl who loves fashion, and noticed that all the fashion websites, blogs, and magazines I read weren’t really geared at all towards college girls. I wanted to create a place where college girls could talk about style, trade budget fashion finds, find info about sales, and discuss the unique fashion challenges that come with college life.
Fashion Time: What are some of the most popular fashion trends among college students?
Briana: It varies a lot from college to college, but there are a few trends that seem to be pretty universal. Skinny jeans, mini dresses, and metallic tote bags are a few of my favorites. There are also a few college trends that I wish would go away - leggings as pants and pajamas in public!
Fashion Time: You talk about finding your Celebrity Fashion Muse. Can you tell us who your Celebrity Muse is, and why?
Briana: I have a few celebrity fashion muses, actually. And they kind of change all the time. Right now it’s a tie between Nicole Richie, Kate Moss, and Blake Lively.
Fashion Time: Some would say M.I.A.’s fashion sense is M.I.A. - missing in action. But her personal style seems to appeal to you. What is it about
M.I.A.s fashionability that you like?
Briana: Whoever said that about M.I.A. needs to have their head checked. She’s fabulous. I love the way she puts things together, and mixes some of the most unexpected pieces to create these amazingly original looks. And she has tons of confidence, which means she can really pull off anything. What’s not to love?
Fashion Time: What do you think is one of the summer’s hottest trends in girls fashion?
Briana: This summer it’s all about the gladiator heel. It’s like a gladiator sandal only with some height!
Fashion Time: What designer dress would you choose for your wedding?

Vera Wang - Season of Change - Brides.com
Briana: Vera Wang. Or if I get really good at making clothes someday, I’ll design one myself. I just got a sewing machine this year, and I’m learning! So we’ll see.
Fashion Time: Favorite lip gloss?
Briana: Chanel Glossimer in Pinup.
Fashion Time: What are your five desert island staples?
Briana: This question is always hard for me, but O.K. Assuming there was food and water on this island… sunblock, bikini, iPod touch, Bare Escentuals mineral foundation, Vogue. I’d be set.
Fashion Time: Are there any styles from years past that you think will be making a comeback?
Briana: Definitely. I think the 80’s trend is going to keep going for the next few seasons. Also, I think we’re going to see even more big hair - 1960’s style.
Fashion Time: Briana, What’s Hot and What’s Not?
Briana: Hot: patterned tights under mini dresses. Not: Leggings as pants.
Fashion Time: There’s criticism directed towards models and others in the fashion industry that they are vapid and vacuous - do you think that is the
case?
Briana: No! While there are exceptions to every rule, I would say that in general, the people I’ve met in the fashion industry have been nothing like that. They’re nice, cool, creative and interesting people who just happen to love fashion.
Fashion Time: Who is the most stylish and fashionable celeb?
Briana: There are so many. Right now I’m loving Rihanna’s sense of style, though.
Fashion Time: When dressing appropriately for a job interview, what types of outfits should women avoid wearing?
Briana: Anything too sexy really has no place in the office. Also, no flip flops unless you’re interviewing for a lifeguard position!
Fashion Time: Since you say, fashion is all about experimentation and making mistakes, can you tell us about one of your own wardrobe disasters?
Briana: Well, recently I like to think that there haven’t been too many, but in high school I was a fashion disaster. I went through a phase where I wore nothing but Abercrombie & Fitch every day. It was so boring and wasn’t me at all, but there’s so much pressure on you in HS to look like everyone else that I kinda caved to that. I’d have to say that was my worst fashion disaster ever!
Fashion Time: If fashion is about experimentation, why do so many women opt for the same mass-produced look?
Briana: I don’t know about that. I think everyone adds their own unique touch to things. It’s all in the details really. But if people are wearing the same mass-produced look, it’s probably because they don’t know any better, or maybe experimenting with fashion isn’t very important to them.
Fashion Time: Spring break or summer vacation, a woman truly needs a nice set of swimwear to hit the beach or pool in style. What can you suggest?
Briana: It really depends on her body type, but the general rule is that if you feel good in it, wear it. Don’t ever wear a bathing suit that you don’t 100% love.
Fashion Time: What are the five best online sites for Fashion?
Briana: Style.com, Thefashionspot.com, Instyle.com, Fashionista.com, and of course CollegeFashion.Net
Fashion Time: Your message for people who are obsessed with fashion is?
Briana: Wear what you like, take risks, don’t care so much about what other people think, and stay fabulous!
