Bibi: Italian Style and Glamour, the Red Apple way
By Editor • Jul 7th, 2008 • Category: Fashion ViewIn this interview, we welcome Bibi, the Italian fashionista and very stylish woman who is the proprietress of Red Apple, a very fashionable site that functions as a guide to online fashion accessories, which contains prices and useful information provided by the blog’s readers.
Red Apple is the fab web home for absolutely-normal-women who want to see their life a bit through rose-coloured spectacles thanks to a pair of shoes, a new bag, or some sunglasses. Here, one can find pictures, photos, prices, and shop addresses, all while sipping your morning latte in leisure, and snacking on some biscotti.
We thank Bibi for taking time off from her busy schedule to participate in our interview.
Fashion Time: How did you get the idea for your blog?
Bibi: We started 4 years ago and there weren’t so many blogs like today. Red Apple is not a “real” blog, the idea was to put on line fashion accessories with prices and useful information provided directly from users.
With time, most part of posts has a list of shops where to get the item, price, advices for the purchase and maintenance, tips for fake models, etc. An example for all is the Vuitton Speedy Guide: there were so many comments that we have created a pdf guide with pictures and all useful information collected by users comments.
Fashion Time: What is the unique thing about Italian style?
Bibi: Quality + Glamour
Fashion Time: Who is the coolest Italian designer?
Bibi: Valentino forever, and now Gucci (by Frida Giannini)
Fashion Time: What fashion trend is the most popular among Italian fashionistas?
Bibi: In this season, large bags, rubber sandals by Melissa, skinny jeans, espadrillas wedges.
Fashion Time: What high street brands are popular in Italy? (Zara? Topshop?)
Bibi: Zara, H & M, Mango, Benetton over all. Top Shop hasn’t any store in Italy.
Fashion Time: What do you think of the upcoming Italian Vogue featuring only black models?
Bibi: Models are only models, there is no colour. When I buy Cosmolitan, Vogue, Marie Claire I am fascinated by the glamour, the luxury, the dream, the items, the pictures, the news. I think that is not a question of identification for women.
Fashion Time: The most stylish city in the world is? And why?
Bibi: In my experience is New York. Everything is new and in evolution. You can buy everything.
Fashion Time: What is your favorite local boutique?
Bibi: I live in Italian Riviera and shops here are very glamurous and provided with new season collections for tourists who come during holiday. My favourite are “Campo di Fragole” in Varazze (Savona) and “Spinnaker” in Alassio (Savona).
Fashion Time: Are European women more sophisticated, style wise than American women?
Bibi: Yes. But with obvious differences: OK Italy and France and London for England, not Germany and North Europe.
Fashion Time: The Hottest Swimwear of the season in Italy is?
Bibi: Kristina Ti, Parah, Calzedonia, Yamamay.
Fashion Time: Who are more fashionable, American men or Italian?
Bibi: Italian. I have see horrible men shoes in America.
Fashion Time: Favorite Fragrance?
Bibi: Light Blue by Dolce & Gabbana (perfect for Summer)
Fashion Time: If you could only own one pair of shoes, what would you choose?
Bibi: Sergio Rossi, definitely.
Fashion Time: Can you give us your thoughts on the following brands: Mango? Louis Vuitton? Gucci?
Bibi: Mango is a high street brand, good quality for the price, but in Italy we do not consider (it) a designer.
Vuitton is the favourite Red Apple girls brand for bags. We are crazy for speedy, neverfull, lockit, keypall, galliera, palermo…A Vuitton bag is a dream to realize for every girl and woman who wants to carry a “status”. A Vuitton bag is forever.
We are sick of Gucci monogram bags, but (their) dresses are simply wonderful.
