Lace Noir

Miuccia Prada describes lace as the most important fabric in a woman’s life. It is with her at birth, marriage, death, and many milestones in between.

In S/S ‘08 many designers told us a bedtime story and dressed up their models in sheer seductive fabrics. As part of the chic boudoir trend, it became clear that lace is not the old fashioned fabric from your grandmother’s wardrobe anymore. The good news is that this trend will continue to invade our closets even in Fall ‘08.

Traditional white, ecru, and muted lace is undisputedly romantic, while black makes edgy silhouettes and reminds one of gothic chic.

Blumarine and Christian Dior used lace in lingerie-like detail that left little to the imagination; Charles Nolan, Bill Blass and Naeem Khan – all gave a romantic touch to their evening dresses, while Doo.Ri and LAMB kept things dramatic.
