Black, white, red, yellow, and green; sandals, flats, stilettos, and boots… For women, there can never be enough shoes. But does every woman know the shoe essentials, the true classics, which should be in every women’s wardrobe, despite the season and fashion trends? The Fashion Time Magazine editors unveil 5 classic shoes that every woman must call her own.

1. Black and neutral pumps

Truly universal, pumps are a key piece in any shoe wardrobe. They are like the little black dress of shoes, and they fit with every outfit and on any occasion. You can slip them on when you need to go for a causal dinner or for a business meeting.

2. Ballet flats

They were made ultra-fashionable by style icon Audrey Hepburn, whose miniature silver shoes were specially invented for her, by Italian designer Salvatore Ferragamo. These comfortable shoes can be worn with jeans, girly skirts, and shorts, as well as summer dresses. Decades later, the flats again became recklessly popular.

3. The high heels

“I don’t know who invented high heels, but all women owe him a lot, ” Marilyn Monroe once said and she certainly knew what she was talking about. Whether it is sandals, slingback platforms, or peep-toes, sky-high heels add a sexy and glamorous edge for your cocktail dresses and frocks. Feel their power and go for some Louboutins which are already classics, Jimmy Choo, or Brian Atwood. Those are the true masters of the high heels.

4. Booties

Even if it’s not winter yet, but it’s cold outside or raining, wear booties. Nothing can dress up a casual outfit in colder weather and make you feel better about yourself, than adding a bit of height. Booties are always chic with skinny jeans and a cropped leather jacket.

5. Knee high boots

Every single woman should own a pair of black or cream boots - it’s an axiom. A real wardrobe builder is a classic shape with minimal detail. Knee high boots can be worn over jeans or with a mini skirt for the day.
