Christian Dior Cruise 2009: we’ve seen it all before

John Galliano showed off his cruise collection for Christian Dior at Guastavino’s in Manhattan tonight, before heading to Georgia on Saturday to collect an award from the Savannah College of Art and Design.

What was a nod to the ’60s and Valley of the Dolls last time, was given a Mexican spin this time around with cascades of citrus-colored ruffles, caftans, and supersized sombreros. It had a very obvious 60s influence, and we’ve seen it all before. Nothing has changed since his last collections: the same 60s shapes, colors, fabrics, bags, shoes, hair, patterns, embroidery, embellishments - all the same, it was very derivative.
